Boy Scouts

The website www.eldoradoveterans.com and project was started by Andrew Binnings last year. Andrew has been nominated by the Post as Eagle Scout of the Year 2015 and being endorsed by the District 1st and 3rd Vice Commanders for Department Eagle Scout of the Year. Two years ago Andrew erected a Veterans Memorial at this school to commemorate 3 OIF Veterans who have perished in Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  Andrew has received a few awards for his project and is being nominated for many more.  Andrew last year received the Citizen of the Year Award from Post 291 Auxiliary Unit, and he was sponsored by Post 291 as a delegate to attend Boys State.

Support for the Boy Scout movement came at the American Legion’s first National Convention in 1919. Today there are more than 2,500 Boy Scout units sponsored by Legion Posts throughout the country.

Supporting Boy Scout activities is natural for Legionnaires, who bring their service-learned skills and experiences as Veterans to bear to help build character and positive traits in “Young America.” Few other Post activities generate more goodwill from the community.
